Farming Insects on an industrial scale to produce an alternative source of Protein and Biofertilisers – Keiran Whitaker – Entocycle

21st January, 2021 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

“Our mission is to restore the natural world by revolutionising the way we feed animals”

“Could Black Soldier Flies be the future of food production?”

“This company is breeding millions of insects in the heart of London!”

“Nature has spent 150 million years perfecting how to feed animals. It’s called insects”

These are all bold statements but it is true Entocycle is an insect Farming Company which has been backed by the government with a £10m. funding package to set up a new factory which will be able to process 33,000 tonnes of food waste every year and produce protein for animal feed and pet food. At its existing site under the railway arches at London Bridge the company feeds local food waste – typically fruit, vegetables and coffee grounds to the insects.

Kieran Whitaker the founder of the Company in 2017 claims that the “UK is making an ambitious commitment to becoming a leader in sustainable food production systems” listen to his presentation on how his company is at the forefront of producing protein, organic fertiliser and natural fats from waste by farming insects.
